Who Should Study English as a Second Language?
ESL lessons are suitable for anyone who wants to improve their ability to communicate confidently in English at any level. Some common situations involve:
- Adults or young people who wish to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for university or college study in the UK or another English-speaking country;
- Adults who want to improve their English for business or other work, either for general or specific purposes (such as medical professionals, lawyers, accountants);
- Adults or young people who would like to come to the UK to study or work and need a suitable IELTS level (typically level 6.5, 7 or above).
However, this list is by no means exclusive. Whether you are a beginner or already have a good level of English, lessons can be tailored to suit your needs.
Learning English as a Second Language with an Experienced ESL Tutor
English is a rich and beautiful language, but it is also difficult to learn. As a native speaker with extensive knowledge of language and linguistics who has been teaching ESL for more than 30 years, I can help you develop the confidence and skills to communicate more naturally and effectively.
One-to-one lessons can focus on improving your speaking, listening, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading or writing, depending on your goals.
As a pronunciation specialist, I can help you produce the subtle sounds of English, making it easier to understand others and be understood. I also use a wide range of ESL activities and authentic English materials, from journalism and novels to films and everyday communication, helping you develop a broader understanding of how English is actually used.
